While all the users are eagerly waiting for the Android L 5.0 update to arrive on their devices, Google released a minor Android KitKat 4.4.4 update. This update contains some important security bug fixes with OpenSSL security fix prominent among them.
According to the official Sony’s webpage for Xperia Z1, this update comes with many improvements, bug fixes and security patches. Some of which are:-
- Bug fixes and security enhancements from Google.
- New and improved Camera app for a better camera experience.
- Performance fixes for Google Voice, Contacts, Music streaming and Google+ which makes them much more smooth and stable.
- Sony apps have been updated.
- Other fixes and improvements directly from Sony.
Since this is an OTA (Over-The-Air) update, this update won’t be released for all regions at once. Since the official webpage doesn’t shed light on where the update will be first released, we can only speculate that this update will be first available in Italy, Indonesia and Russia which is similar to Sony Z1 Compact.
As with other OTAs, even the users residing in the same region where the update was released, will get the update immediately. They might have to wait for a couple of days before their device becomes eligible for the update.
When your device is ready to receive an update, it will get an official OTA update notification on your devices notification screen. To install the update, just tap on the notification and follow the on-screen prompts.
Meanwhile, you can also check manually if an update is available for your device. To check for the update manually, go to Settings > About phone > Software updates > System updates.
