Since Galaxy S3 is preceded by relatively newer Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5, the KitKat 4.4.2 update arrived pretty late. But at long last, US Cellular Galaxy S3 KitKat 4.4.2 update has arrived. This update will bump the firmware version to R530UVXCND4.
As mentioned in the official US Cellular’s page, this update brings improvement in Phone Dialer, Camera and Hangouts. User will notice that the contacts are now prioritized based on how often you use them. The updated Camera app has a new touch to focus with options to select the focus and exposure. Emoji is also now added to Google keyboard which is good news for users who chat a lot.
The update is available over-the-air (if using Wi-Fi) or by downloading the upgrade to your PC and using your USB cable to upgrade. The former (over-the-air) option is the easiest and recommended if you have Wi-Fi access with good download speed. You can always download the update on your PC and then update it from there. Although it must be clarified that you can only use a Windows PC to update from PC. Mac users will have to stick with over-the-air update.
Since it has been almost a week since the update has been rolled out, you might already had a notification regarding this update. If you somehow missed this update then you can manually pull this update by going into Settings » About device » Software updates menu. Then select OK and follow the onscreen prompts.
Now you must have the official KitKat 4.4.2 update with R530UVXCND4 as firmware build version. To check whether you are on the latest firmware build, go to Settings > About phone > Build number / version.
If you have already installed this update or installed update after reading this post then please provide a review about the look-and-feel and performance of the device after KitKat 4.4.2 update.
