According to the official T-Mobile’s support page, this update will bump the firmware build version to G900TUVU1ANE6. There are no new features that are included in this update, just bug fixes and patches. This update specially address the incoming SMS/MMS failure which has troubled a lot of T-Mobile users. It also comes with network connectivity improvement.
As with all other OTA (Over-The-Air) updates, this update will be rolled out in gradual steps. It might be a while until you see this update, so don’t be impatient.
If you have received this OTA notification message then all you have to do is to tap the notification and follow the onscreen instructions to download and install the latest firmware. For all those users who haven’t received a notification message, you can check for the update by Settings > General > About device > Software update > Check now. You can also connect your device to PC via USB cable and check for the KitKat 4.4.2 update using the Kies application.
According to the official changelogs, the G900TUVU1ANE6 firmware update is about 185 Mb, thus a stable WiFi connection is recommended for the download. Also make sure that you device’s battery level is over 60% (80% recommended) otherwise you device might die in the middle of update and you will land with a bricked device.
To check whether you are running on the latest firmware version, go to Settings > General > About device. There you will find Baseband version, make sure that it matches G900TUVU1ANE6.
