If you happen to own a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 device then you must keep an eye out on the notification bar of your device since a system update might soon been arriving. The US carrier T-Mobile revealed that it is rolling out Android 4.4.2 KitKat OTA for Samsung Galaxy Note 3. The T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4.2 KitKat update will be rolled out, starting from today.
Since most of the KitKat 4.4 perks such as transparent status bar, immersive mode, cloud printing, full screen album art in lock screen, new location menu, white status bar icon or color emoji support were already delivered in the previous KitKat update, this new firmware update just bring performance and security patches.
According to T Mobile’s official support page, the new firmware update will bring network improvements and introduce VoLTE. VoLTE is T-Mobile’s Voice Over LTE service which improves voice quality and brings faster call connection time.
T-Mobile also suggests that the file size of this update might be 25.79 MB or 188 MB depending on whether you are running on N900TUVUCNB4 or N900TUVUDNF1 firmware. Thus it recommended to have a stable Wi-Fi connection and more than 80% battery life.
As this update is rolled out as an OTA (Over-The-Air) update, it will be rolled out in gradual steps which means that not all the users will receive the update at once. It might be a while until the update arrives on your device.
Once the update is ready for your device, you will receive a system update notification message on your device’s notification bar. In case the system update notification fails to arrive on your device, you can manually check if an update is ready for your device. To check for the update manually, go to Settings > More > System manager > About device > Software update > Check for software updates. You can also connect your device to PC and use Kies to check for the update manually.
