It was not a long time ago that a firmware update was released for Xperia Z2 by Sony. The latest news suggest that Sony has begun another Xperia Z2 Firmware update. This firmware update isn’t directed to introduce any new features.
The latest Xperia Z2 Firmware update has firmware version number 17.1.2.A.0.314 and is solely directed to increase the stability of the system. According to the official changelogs, this update will bring-
- Enhanced voice call quality
- Improved touch function and performance
- Charging improved when battery is low
- Overall performance and stability improved
- And all of our latest bug fixes and improvements
Since this update will be available in form of an OTA (Over-The-Air) update, this update will be released in different regions at different times. Your carrier might also release this update with additional delay.
Once an update is released in your region and is available for your device, you will receive an official OTA update notification. To download and install this update, just tap on the notification message and follow the onscreen prompts.
If an update is released in your region and you haven’t received the update notification yet then go to Settings > About phone > Software updates > System updates. If an update is available for your device, you will get the OTA update notification.
To find your current software version go to Settings > About phone > Build number / version.
Although, you must keep in mind that in order to get this update automatically on your device, you must be running on stock ROM and your ROM must not be rooted. If you have a custom or rooted ROM then you must first revert to stock ROM, update your device and then root it again.
There is also a manual way to install the update on your device. We will update this post with a manual method once we capture the OTA update file.
