Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop Update is now available for download in Europe for the International variant of Samsung Galaxy S5 G9005. So, if you own this variant of S5, you better start checking your notification screen more often than you currently do.
The latest Android OS, Lollipop 5.0 was release a couple of weeks ago along with the release of two brand new Android devices – Nexus 6 and Nexus 9. This firmware will upgrade the existing firmware version to LRX21T. This firmware has already been spotted in Poland and it might be another few weeks until the update will be available for the rest of the world.
The latest Samsung Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop update will bring tons of new stuff to the device. This new Android OS comes with new a brand new Material design, full Android runtime (ART) support, new security options, new lockscreen features, new Recents multi-tasking menu, improved notifications menu, device sharing capabilities, Screen Pin, and load of other awesome features.
The existing Samsung Galaxy S5 users running Android 4.4.4 KitKat have been complaining about certain lags that they have experienced. Hopefully this update will resolve all the existing issues and if this update satisfies the European customers, it might be released for the rest of the world real soon.
The new Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Samsung Galaxy S5 is being released in form of FOTA (Firmware-Over-The-Air) and via Kies. As you might already know that FOTA is released in gradual steps. So, it might be a while until you receive a notification for the firmware upgrade. Eventually, when the notification arrives, just tap on the notification and follow the onscreen instructions to download and install the upgrade. Just in case the firmware upgrade doesn’t arrive for you, you can always check it’s availability manually. Just go to Settings> System> About Device> Software Update> Update menu.
Additionally, you can also install the firmware upgrade via Kies, just connect your device to PC via USB cable and run Kies. You will be presented with a prompt to install the firmware upgrade, just follow the instructions.
This Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade will be quite heavy in size so make sure that you have a stable internet connection and a good data plan. Also make sure that you have a good battery backup before you try to install the update on your device.
