HTC One M7 GPE Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OTA Update

HTC One M7 GPE is now getting Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OTA update. This news has been confirmed by Mo Versi, VP of Product Management at HTC. So, if you are owner of HTC One M7 GPE, keep checking your notification area for Android 5.0.1 update alerts.

The device was previously running on Android 4.4 KitKat and it seems that HTC has decided to jump one step and provide Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update directly. Along with HTC One M7 GPE, HTC One M8 GPE will also be receiving Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OTA update. At the moment only GPE edition of HTC One M7 are receiving this firmware upgrade, the original version might probably get this update earlier next month.

The latest Android 5.0.1 updates consist of the latest Material Design UI, Device Sharing capabilities, Android Runtime (ART) full support, Android Smart Lock, Guest user support, Screen Pinning, multiple users support, improved Battery Saving Mode, new Quick Settings toggles, Notifications improvements with Priority Mode functions, lock screen interactive notifications, intelligent notifications ranking  and lots of other features.

The Android 5.0.1 update will be rolled out as OTA (Over-The-Air) and will be available in gradual steps. Thus, it might take some time for the update to arrive on your M7. Although, all the models of HTC One M7 GPE will receive the update until the end of this month so have some patience.

Once the update is ready for your device, it will receive a notification alert on your notification screen. To download and install this update, just click on this notification and follow the onscreen instructions. If your device doesn’t receive the update alert automatically for too long then you can always check manually if the update is available. Just go to Settings > About > Software Update and check for the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update.

If your HTC One M7 GPE received Android 5.0.1 update then please enter the review of the latest Android firmware. Also, if you have noticed something different in performance or features then please share with us.
