The new Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo (GT-I9301I) looks just like its predecessor device Samsung Galaxy S3 which was launched in 2012. The hardware specifications are similar to that of S3 but this device has an enhanced RAM which makes it possible for Neo to run KitKat 4.4.2 operating system.
Many of you might be thinking that why Samsung had to launch the S3 Neo with almost similar specifications? This is due to the fact that the Samsung Galaxy S3 will never receive a KitKat 4.4.2 update. Although KitKat can run on devices which even have 512 MB RAM, Galaxy S3 which has 1 GB of RAM will still not get the update due to the fact that this update might make the device slow and unresponsive, specially when running a graphic intensive application. Galaxy Neo tackle this problem by having addition 512 MB ram (total 1.5GB) as compared to Galaxy S3. The official Samsung websites shows the new Galaxy S3 Neo in Metallic Blue and White Ceramic colors.

Samsung Galaxy Neo was first launched in Germany and then in India. Although the device isn’t on sale as yet in Germany, pre-ordering has already started. The Indian variant of Galaxy S3 Neo is a little different than its German variant. The Indian variant has dual sim support with a 1.2 GHz processor. Since Samsung hasn’t made any official statements with the release of this device yet, we aren’t sure as to when and if this device will be launched worldwide.
This new device has raised the tempers of thousands of Galaxy S3 users who find themselves cheated when they see their device not getting the KitKat 4.4.2 update. Users can’t justify the reason behind releasing a “better” Galaxy S3 with just 512MB additional RAM which runs on Android 4.4.2 out of the box while their S3 will never receive an official update.
In my opinion, this step will cause Samsung to lose a lot of customers who might feel unsecure in buying any new Samsung smartphones owing to the fact that Samsung can simply and without any major reason, simply stop the support of upgrading their smartphones.
What do you feel about the latest Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo? Would you consider buying it if it is available in your country? Are you a Galaxy S3 user who feel cheated by Samsung?
